The City provides twenty-four hour operations for Police and Fire Services as well as other outstanding services throughout the organization. The Springdale Police Department is one of fifty-three CALEA accredited departments in Ohio. The department has been consistently recognized with an AAA Award since 2002 for its outstanding work to minimize traffic accidents and promote safe driving. Springdale has achieved AAA’s highest level of recognition with a Platinum Award for over twelve years.
Springdale also manages its own Health Department and is one of only four departments in Hamilton County. Due to its top-notch service delivery, the department continues to receive a number of grants and other recognitions.
The City’s Finance Department has been awarded the “Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting” from the Government Finance Officers Association for over sixteen years. These are just a few highlights of some of the City departments. The City has always maintained a strong economic base with many companies calling Springdale home. Prominent companies such as Macy’s Corporate Services, Humana, the Kroger Company, Proctor and Gamble, General Electric Engine Services, Smithfield Meat Packing, and the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio have made Springdale the home of their operations. There are over 1,000 businesses or commercial organizations located within City limits.
The City is strategically located on Interstate 275 which provides residents and businesses with easy access to and from the community. Springdale’s strategic location also provides access to two major international airports. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is approximately thirty miles south of Springdale and the James M. Cox Dayton International Airport is approximately thirty-five miles north of the City.
Springdale is within an hour drive of many distinguished educational institutions including: University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Cincinnati State, University of Dayton, Wright State University, Miami University, Northern Kentucky University, and Beckfield College, located within the City.
Springdale’s strategic location also affords residents and businesses access to excellent cultural and recreational facilities such as: Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Newport Aquarium, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and a number of Hamilton County parks throughout the region.
